Electromechanical Technician

New Matter makes 3D printing affordable and easy for everyone. Our first product, the MOD-t 3D printer, is one of the best-selling and highest-rated 3D printers available for under $500. Always looking ahead to what’s next, we’re looking to add an exceptional Electromechanical Technician to our team to help evaluate and repair customer returns. You will also support continuous improvements of our existing products and business processes while helping with new development when possible.

The Electromechanical Technician position is a full-time hourly position for a broadly-capable individual. Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Evaluate customer returns for issues. This includes mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Repair and refurbish units as needed after evaluation.
  • Develop and improve procedures to more efficiently perform the evaluations and repairs.
  • Work closely with our Technical Customer Service (TCS) team to understand any new failure modes in New Matter’s products.
  • Help the TCS team establish processes to effectively categorize customer returns during the remote troubleshooting activity performed by TCS.
  • Help develop maintenance and repair procedures which may be published to our customers.
  • Update and help maintain the failure logs and records for New Matter’s products.
  • Train additional personnel in evaluation and repair of New Matter Products
  • Organize and maintain the New Matter lab/ warehouse

Skills & Requirements

  • Reading mechanical drawing to understand the original design of parts and assemblies
  • Reading electrical schematics to understand the original design
  • Basic electronics design and assembly understanding
  • Practical knowledge and use of DVM/DMM
  • Soldering for electronics assembly
  • Demonstrated capability to work collaboratively within a team and/or independently
  • Proactive at identifying, documenting, and communicating issues
  • Demonstrate consistently clear and concise English communication through conversation, email, and written documents
  • Technical electronics degree, military training, or equivalent experience
  • Proficient with Excel and Word
  • Willingness to be flexible and do task outside of your previous experience to help New Matter succeed

Preferred Experience

  • Experience writing technical reports and creating graphics to describe and illustrate system’s operating characteristics, malfunctions, deviations from design specifications, and functional limitations for consideration by the larger New Matter technical team
  • Experience operating lathes, drills, mills, or other machine tools to fabricate parts and tools
  • Filament-based additive manufacturing

Senior Mechanical Engineer

The Senior Mechanical Engineer position is a full-time salaried position for a broadly-capable engineer. Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Design 3D printers! Using our experience with the MOD-t as a launching pad, design next-generation products for improved performance & reliability, reduced cost, added capabilities, etc.
  • Work closely with our manufacturing partners to bring your designs to fruition. Prepare drawings, develop tooling & fixtures, inspect and test samples, and address manufacturer’s feedback.
  • Design and assemble test articles, prototypes, fixtures, and test apparatus
  • Plan, specify, execute and/or direct testing and validation activities
  • Plan and manage compliance and certification activities (FCC, UL, CE, CSA, CCC)

Skills & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related scientific field, with 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Mechanical design, drafting, assembly, and characterization of high-volume products with 3D CAD tools
  • Extensive experience designing parts for plastic injection molding
  • Experience working with overseas contract manufacturers and suppliers
  • Basic electronic design and assembly
  • Implementation of data acquisition hardware and software
  • Demonstrated capability to work collaboratively within a team and/or independently
  • Proactive at identifying, documenting and communicating issues
  • Demonstrate consistently clear and concise English communication through conversation, email, written documents and graphics

Preferred Experience

  • Mechanical design and drafting in Autodesk Fusion 360 and/or SolidWorks
  • Design of Experiments techniques including Taguchi methods and relevant statistical methods
  • HALT/HASS experience
  • GD&T
  • Programming or scripting knowledge such as Python, MATLAB or similar
  • Characterization of low-level Wi-Fi (RF level) communications, closed-loop motion, power electronics, and thermal systems
  • Tuning of PID control systems
  • Filament-based additive manufacturing

Senior Software QA Engineer

You will be key in the development, deployment, and administration of QA processes, tools, tests and supporting technologies for our IoT cloud platform and firmware and will work closely with the hardware and customer service teams to ensure as smooth an experience for our customers as possible. Software Engineer, Backend

You will be key in building of our next-generation product as we shift our architecture to better serve our users and gear up to handle increased scale.
